FAQ'S
What is CBD?
The cannabis plant contains over a hundred cannabinoids. CBD, (or cannabidiol), is one of 2 main cannabinoids in the Cannabis plant. The other is THC. While THC is well known for its psychoactive properties, it’s CBD that’s getting everyone excited due to its potential benefits. Marijuana contains high levels of THC, while hemp is typically grown to contain less than 0.3% THC and very high levels of CBD.
Is CBD legal?
Yes, provided the THC levels are within the legal requirements. The current recommended daily amount for CBD intake is 20mg in South Africa. This can change in future as research and regulations continue to evolve. Currently, this is an amount considered as safe and effective by regulatory bodies. All Buzz drinks contain virtually zero THC. You are welcome to check our independent 3rd party test results to confirm this.
Is CBD safe for children?
While CBD is not prohibited for use by children, you are advised to first discuss this with a healthcare provider who is very familiar with CBD and its effects before making use of any CBD products.
Will Buzz drinks get me high?
No. Legally, CBD needs to contain less than 0.3% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) which is the active ingredient that gets you high. Our water contains substantially less THC. The THC content of our products is so low that it basically can be classified as THC Free.
What is Nano CBD Isolate?
This technology is gaining popularity and preliminary research seems to suggest Nano technology leads to increased bioavailability of active ingredients. Bottom line: this basically means a little goes a long way. Reducing the size of the particles means more of the valuable CBD is able to reach more cannabinoid receptors in more parts of your body where it can start to work its magic. By making use of Nano emulsified Water Soluble CBD you receive superior bioavailability whilst still keeping within the 20mg recommended daily allowance. Please remember that under current regulations you will need a medical prescription to exceed these amounts.
What about interaction with other medicines?
You are advised to discuss this with your healthcare provider. Although CBD is generally considered to be safe with little to no side effects in legal dosages, you should always discuss any supplements you intend to take with your doctor, especially if you are on any other medication. Although rare, there could be a contraindication in your particular case. CBD could, for example, amplify other medication you are taking meaning you might need to cut back on something. Please be sure to consult a doctor who is very familiar with CBD.
Is it safe for professional athletes?
According to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s 2022 Prohibited List, an exception has been made for Cannabidiol (CBD) on the Cannabinoid list. This basically means that while all natural and synthetic cannabinoids such as Marijuana, Hashish and other substances that contain or mimic THC are not allowed, CBD however is currently considered safe to use. Before making use of CBD for muscle recovery etc, please check for any updates to this status and also do a final check with your particular discipline of sport and any possible exceptions to this ruling in your region. Certain sports have very unique exclusions. An example is competitive shooting where alcohol is considered a performance enhancing substance and is not allowed. The Legal Stuff:
Disclaimer & Additional Reading: There are currently many restrictions regarding available verified information on CBD, its uses, benefits and possible medicinal value, as well as who is allowed to dispense such information. Sadly, much of this is due to the fact that very little research took place for many decades until recently. This has lead to the unfortunate current backlog of finalized test results since the recent explosion in CBD usage. As this backlog gets cleared we believe that many more CBD benefits will become known. We are currently going through an exciting period as more and more of CBD’s hidden secrets continually get revealed thanks to new research. Please note that The South Cape Trading Post as well as this site does not make medical or scientific claim of any nature. Our products do not claim to treat, cure or prevent any condition. Despite the many wonderful reports you have probably already read and heard from other people who have used quality CBD products, we are not making any official statement regarding the potential benefits of CBD. Medicinal and scientific information can only be given by qualified experts in those respective fields. In order not to overstep any legal boundaries we cannot include any potential physical and mental wellbeing benefits of CBD other than the information already contained on this site. We look forward to additional research by the scientific community who seem to be discovering more and more about CBD.
